Mahindra’s highly anticipated Thar 5-door is gearing up for a second-half launch this year. Insiders reveal that production is slated to commence around June, adding to the excitement surrounding this release.
Built on the same production line as its 3-door counterpart. The Thar 5-door is expected to be named Thar Armada upon launch, with an ambitious production target of approximately 4,000 units monthly.
Key Features: The Thar 5-door is set to outshine its 3-door sibling with a host of new features. Recent spy shots from South India hint at a production-ready SUV, showcasing unique front and rear bumper designs, reprofiled tail-lamps, and updated alloy wheel options.
Inside the cabin, the Thar 5-door adopts the impressive 10.25-inch touchscreen . Accommodating the larger display has led to a subtle alteration in the dashboard design. Noteworthy additions include front and rear armrests, dedicated grab handles for the second row, and a sunroof on higher variants. The familiar switchgear from the current thar and the XUV700-inspired steering wheel maintain a sense of continuity.
Powertrain Expectations: Continuing the legacy of its 3-door counterpart, the Thar 5-door is anticipated to feature the same powertrain options—a 2.2-litre diesel engine and a 2.0-litre petrol engine. These engines will be paired with both 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. Off-road enthusiasts can expect the retention of robust off-road hardware, with suspension tweaks tailored to each powertrain variant.
