According to Reports Pakistan Army allegedly assaulted police officers and targeted a police station in Bahawalnagar district, Punjab, following a dispute over an allegedly illegal weapon seized from a soldier’s family member. Videos of the incident circulated on social media, depicting police officers subjected to mistreatment.
In one video, police officers were seen kneeling on the ground under duress from Pakistan army personnel. Another video showed officers pleading to avoid further harm. According to sources, the incident arose from a conflict involving the illegal detention of civilians and demands for money by police personnel.
Senior police officials disclosed that the army personnel raided the Madrassa police station to release detainees, resulting in the torture of policemen present. Consequently, four policemen, including SHO Abbas Rizwan, were suspended and arrested for alleged unlawful detention and extortion.

Amidst the uproar, the Punjab police issued a statement clarifying the situation, emphasizing that the incident was exaggerated and taken out of context on social media. Both the army and police initiated a joint investigation to address the matter peacefully.
Despite attempts to downplay the incident, former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Hammad Azhar demanded the resignation of Punjab police chief Dr. Usman Anwar in response to the humiliating events.
The incident underscores tensions between law enforcement agencies and the military, urging social media users to avoid spreading false narratives and focus on collaborative efforts against criminal elements in Punjab.
