In a pivotal step towards achieving the vision of a “Green and Clean Himachal,” Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has directed government departments to refrain from acquiring diesel or petrol vehicles from January 1, 2024 well-bein. This initiative, as highlighted by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), aims to propel the use of e-vehicles on a large scale, aligning with the state’s commitment to environmental well-being.
Vyavastha Parivartan and Commitment to Green Cover: In his pursuit of Vyavastha Parivartan, the Chief Minister has consistently championed the preservation of the state’s green cover, emphasizing the integration of e-vehicles. The government’s unwavering efforts have resulted in 185 government-owned e-vehicles, with an additional 2,733 private electric vehicles registered in the state.
Chief Minister Sukhu, leading by example, has been using an e-vehicle for several months, signaling the government’s dedication to promoting sustainable practices.
Phased Transition to E-Vehicles: Highlighting the government’s commitment, CM Sukhu stated, “All the departments will replace their fuel vehicles with e-vehicles in a phased manner,” emphasizing that this shift is not only a new beginning but also a testament to the government’s environmental responsibility.
To facilitate this transition, the Transport Department has become the pioneer in replacing its official vehicle fleet with e-vehicles, setting the stage for other departments to follow suit.
