Apple Claims Top Spot in Chinese Smartphone Market in Q4 2023

Apple has made a significant mark in the Chinese smartphone market, emerging as the top-selling brand for the first time in Q4 2023. With a shipment of 17.5 million iPhones during this period, the Cupertino-based tech giant experienced a noteworthy 6% year-on-year increase, according to a report by Canalys. This achievement was propelled by the robust supply of the new iPhone 15 series.

The overall decline in the Chinese smartphone market also saw a reduction, merely reaching 1% as total shipments reached 73.9 million units.

Performance of Other Brands in Q4 2023: Following closely behind Apple was Honor, capturing a 16% market share and shipping 11.7 million units. Vivo secured the third position by shipping 11.3 million units domestically. Huawei also made its mark in the top five, witnessing a remarkable 47% year-on-year increase with its flagship products, shipping 10.4 million units and ranking fourth. Xiaomi maintained its fifth position with 9.5 million units shipped, driven by the latest Xiaomi 14 series.

Apple experienced a modest 1% year-on-year increase, elevating its annual market share to 19%. Meanwhile, Vivo, Oppo, and Honor fiercely competed, each claiming a 16% market share with annual shipments of 44.5 million, 43.9 million, and 43.6 million units, respectively.

Xiaomi retained fifth place in the annual market, holding a 13% market share. Huawei, positioned sixth, saw a notable surge in its full-year market share from 8% in 2022 to 12% in 2023, marking a remarkable 48% year-on-year increase.
